Youth Level 1: Grades 4 - 6
The Episcopal Children's Curriculum (ECC) focuses on a deeper and broader understanding of the Old and New Testaments, sacraments and the Episcopal Church. ECC is rooted in scripture, the Book of Common Prayer, and the 1982 Hymnal. A multi-sensory approach engages the mind, body and senses and encourages our young people to read, think, write, listen, discuss and be creative.
Youth Level 2: Grades 7 - 12
Using The Episcopal Curriculum for Youth, we focus on weekly topics like:
- How am I called by God and what does that mean for me?
- Leadership and Spiritual Witness
- Christian Community
- Sacraments and Liturgy
Class discussions encourage questioning how these relate to contemporary issues, involving us and/or surrounding us and may include an activity using prints or media. We explore what formation means individually and in community, knowing that Christian Formation happens many places outside the Sunday School classroom. Youth are encouraged to participate in other formation opportunities and ministries, school activities and community service projects.
Episcopal Youth Community
Episcopal Youth Community (EYC), which is a traditional name for youth groups at Episcopal churches is for students in grades 4 - 12. We gather together two times a month to build and sustain relationships, serve our community, and have fun together. EYC invites youth for outreach and mission work, spiritual formation, and fellowship.
Activities include: Taco Bar and hang out, camping trips, exploring Houston’s landmarks, serving at Houston Food Bank, lock-ins, and more!
