Death Becomes You... Reflections for Lent

Every Thursday evening from February 18-March 17 the St. Stephen's community will gather in Pecore Hall to explore the most taboo topic in our culture....death.  We hide from our dying and we try to avoid thinking of the deaths of those we love including our parents, spouses, and children.  When it comes, and it does for us all, we are often unprepared.  We are vulnerable to exploitation and our children are subject to trauma.

In order to prepare for death,  St. Stephen's will be engaging in presentations on and conversations about:
· Advocating for oneself and loved ones in critical care and in end of life situations in the hospital, including hospice care
· Advanced directives, what they are and what to consider
· The business of death:  what are the options for burial? Cremation? Donation?
· The law of death:  what is a will? Who should be an executor? What to consider when choosing a guardian for your children?
· Your legacy:  what do you want to be remembered for?  What will you plan to give?
· Your funeral:  how do we create a liturgy that speaks to who you are and what we believe?

Join us Thursday evenings, beginning February 25, from 6:00 - 7:45 p.m., for a series on "Death Becomes You." We will have a simple supper provided at 6:00 p.m., with our discussions beginning at 6:40 p.m. We will conclude our time together with Compline at 7:30 p.m. Child care will be provided.
