Honoring Frona Hunt

Fron Hunt is The Rev. Lisa Hunt's mother.  She passed away on Sunday morning, August 17. We are all holding Lisa and her family in our prayers.

Frona Watral Hunt, 85, of Eastbrook Drive, Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 17, 2014, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center of a stroke.

She was born in Majestic, Kentucky on June 22, 1929 to Frank and Cornelia Watral and was the youngest of nine children.  She is preceded by her brothers: Steve, John, Charlie, and Martin Watral and by her sisters: Annie Watral Hammock, Stella Watral Eller, Mary Watral Smith, and Rose Watral.

She was married to her loving husband, Howard Hunt, for 57 years.  Together they nurtured a close family of daughters:  Lisa, Helen, and Kit Hunt.  Maxwell Hunt Farrar and Rose Hunt Farrar of Houston, Texas are her beloved grandchildren.

 

Frona was a registered nurse, having graduated from Huntington Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Huntington, West Virginia.  She served at St. Vincent Medical Center for 28 years in various nursing leadership roles:  as a floor nurse, head nurse of the urology center, nursing supervisor, and staff development.  At the time of her retirement she worked in human resources with the team action program for employees.   Frona was passionate about the mission of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart:  "to strive to be signs of God's unconditional love as we collaborate to create a more just and compassionate world."  Her last paid position was with Sr. Eileen Otting in mission services.

Frona was a faithful Christian.  She was a long time member of Homeacres First Church of God.  Always a servant leader, she was a board member, Sunday School teacher, Junior Church assistant, and a volunteer nurse at the denomination's summer camp.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, at Ansberg-West, 3000 Sylvania Avenue in Toledo from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.  The family will also receive condolences at 10:00 a.m., preceding the requiem Eucharist on Friday, August 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams Street, Toledo.
