Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.” Psalm 66:1-3
Many years have passed since those psalm-studying teenage years, but as I prepared for this reflection, I found that, like I did so long ago, I kept returning to the first three verses. Although I’m much ‘wiser’ now, I still feel that if I focus on making a joyful noise and glorifying God in word AND deed, that I can both grow in my own spiritual life and closeness with God and support others who are trying to do the same.
Being part of such an exceptional church choir, it’s easy for me to sing (literally) His praises, surrounded by my church family on Sunday mornings. It’s easy for me to talk to others about His love and mercy and to feel His love surrounding me every time I do. Now, as we prepare ourselves to celebrate the coming of His Son, it’s time for me to step up, yet again, on the ‘doing’ side of my praise-giving with joyful abandon. I hope you join me on the journey.
