“Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! For lo, I will come and dwell in your midst, says the Lord.”
– Zechariah 2:10
Has anyone ever said, as they handed you a gift, 'You're going to love this!'? I imagine that was what God was thinking when he put those words into the mouth of the prophet Zechariah, "Rejoice and sing, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I come and will dwell in the midst of thee." I imagine God thinking, 'They just don't know how good this will be--have I got a surprise for them!'
Who could have guessed, who could have dreamed, of the magnitude of what the prophets foretold--that the love of the One who created the Universe would be revealed to us by the birth of His only Son, born into the world as a tiny baby in a stable--and then the sacrifice of that only Son to atone for our sins.
What a gift--the wondrous revelation that God is a God of love, the understanding that God IS love, and that when we love, as John says, God lives in us and His love is perfected in us as we love one another.
Thank you, God. I Just LOVE my gift!
