God is a powerful, almighty, omnipotent being who every piece of kinetic energy in the universe is behind. It is portioned out to each of us, not because we are so important, but because God is gracious and kind to us. Where has God led us? Where have we been pushed forward or pulled back? What can we really take credit for when we are such a small piece of this many textured world?
Christ was not born in an urban setting, and I don't know what slang words were cool at the time, but he was not a tool. He was always aware of who he was and what he was doing. Even as we wait in this time of advent for that small babe's birth we should be aware of the larger story. That God is ready and willing to move and, if we look behind us, even in our uncertainties and fears, we will see God's hand.
